The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism has 8 aquatic facilities to include: 2 indoor pools, 4 community pools and 2 waterparks. The aquatics department serves over 400,000 visitors a year. The Park Attendant position will assist in many facets of the aquatic facility. The position will require the individual to work in an outdoor environment, working with the public of all ages, cleaning of the facility including restrooms, trash, locker room areas. This individual will assist with the enforcement of facility rules and regulations. Work is performed under close supervision with specific instructions provided as to the duties to be completed, the order of completion and method of completion. The Parks, Recreation and Tourism aquatic facilities are a 7 day a week operation which requires a flexible work schedule to include: early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
There are two different types of Attendants. SplashDown offers a Food & Beverage Attendant position and a Park Attendant position. Food Attendants are responsible for accuracy of food orders before they go out to guests, keeping the kitchen area clean, taking out garbage, providing assistance to concessionaires and cooks, resupplying and stocking of food items and supplies, and much more. Park Attendants are responsible for keeping our park clean – including cleaning bathrooms, emptying garbage bins, and completing trash runs. Employees are expected to help complete duties as both a Park Attendant and Food & Beverage Attendant.
Must be at least 14 years old.
The Department of Parks & Recreation conducts DMV records checks on all employees driving for work purposes and criminal background checks on all hires age 18 years and older.

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs routine work in connection with various recreation programs or activities. Work is performed under close supervision with specific instructions provided as to the duties to be completed, the order of completion and method of completion. May perform duties as an aquatics attendant, park attendant, food runner, party leader, special events leader or sitter service attendant.
Assists in carrying out program plans and activities;
Monitors the activities, safety and security of the customers;
Sets up equipment or materials needed for an activity and cleans up after program;
Provides excellence in customer service by answering questions and providing information to the public;
Keeps supplies and equipment neat and organized;
May collect and file paperwork;
Performs related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to effectively communicate with staff, parents, children and emergency personnel; knowledge of a variety of supplies, materials, tools, equipment and practices appropriate to job assignment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with children preferred. Some positions may require CPR and First Aid certifications. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls;
Must have the physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine;
Moderate climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and repetitive motions.
Background Checks, which may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Check, Credit History Check, Education Verification Check, License Verification Check, and/or Fingerprinting may be required (Effective January 3, 2013) as posted in the job advertisement.
