The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism has seasonal openings at Lake Ridge Park. The Facility Attendant position will assist in many facets of the marina operation. The position will require the individual to work in an indoor and outdoor environment, working with the public of all ages, preparing a variety of rental boats to be used such as jon boats, pedal boats, canoes/kayaks, cleaning of the boats and facility including restrooms, trash. This individual will assist with providing good customer service via answering the phone, enforcement of facility rules and regulations and assisting the public in and out of boats while ensuring a safe boating environment occurs. This position will be responsible for operation of a cash register, preparation of daily cash reports, and supervision of the marina facility in the absence of the Manager or MOD. Parks, Recreation and Tourism marina facilities are seasonal in nature with operating hours varying from weekends only in Spring/Fall to a 7 day a week operation in the summer months which requires a flexible work schedule to include: early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Requires at least 6 months of related experience and CPR and First Aid certifications.
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism conducts DMV records checks on all licensed employees and criminal background checks on all hires age 18 years and older.

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs routine work in connection with various recreation programs or activities. Work is performed under general supervision. Attendant III relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. May perform duties as a Facility Attendant, Security Attendant, Pro Shop Sales Clerk or Counselor Aide.
Carries out program plans and activities;
Monitors the program activities, safety and security of the customers;
Ensures that Parks and Recreation policies, rules and regulations are enforced and adhered to;
Provides excellence in customer service by answering questions and providing information to the public;
Observes necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the participants;
Accountable for implementing cash control procedures, monitoring and controlling daily financial transactions and inventory, and providing excellent customer service;
May assume supervision of the facility when supervisory authorities are absent;
Provides daily upkeep and light maintenance of equipment and facility;
Sets up and takes down equipment after activities;
Performs related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Able to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and staff; ability to give and enforce simple instructions; ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends; some knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of community recreation and knowledge of a variety of supplies, materials, tools, equipment and practices appropriate to the job assignment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) operating seasons (or equivalent) of related experience. CPR and Standard First Aid required. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls;
Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine;
Moderate climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and repetitive motions.
Background Checks, which may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Check, Credit History Check, Education Verification Check, License Verification Check, and/or Fingerprinting may be required (Effective January 3, 2013) as posted in the job advertisement.
