The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism is seeking a highly motivated (morning) individual to join our dynamic team as a Building Attendant at the Chinn Aquatic and Fitness Center. Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Building Attendant will open the facility, assist patrons as need and monitor facility and staff to ensure patron satisfaction and safety. The work schedule is Monday thru Friday on alternate days. Hours can vary between 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., not to exceed 30 hours per week.
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism conducts criminal background checks on all hires age 18 years and older. Fingerprinting will be required.

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs responsible work involving facility supervision and security during rentals or other special activities at the site.
Provides a safe environment for rental customers;
Monitors groups using the facility to ensure that policies and facility use agreements are followed;
Assists patrons as needed;
Acts within established guidelines, policies, and procedures to insure customer satisfaction and safety;
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
General knowledge of facility operations regarding opening and securing a facility; ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends; ability to give and enforce simple instructions and to exercise sound judgment in complying with policy and safety standards.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma and two years of successful experience in a customer service setting. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls;
Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine;
No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and repetitive motions.
Background Checks, which may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Check, Credit History Check, Education Verification Check, License Verification Check, and/or Fingerprinting may be required (Effective January 3, 2013) as posted in the job advertisement.

Full-time and Part-time Prince William County Government employees are eligible to participate in our plans; however, the level of benefits depends on the classification of the position, and number of hours worked.
