The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) at the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitation Services assists individuals with disabilities to make informed choices that will maximize their employment through coordinated service delivery. In collaboration
with the Workforce Network, we deliver quality workforce services to individuals with disabilities who want to work and employers seeking to hire them.
We are currently seeking an individual to serve as a Dual Counselor in our Loudoun, VA DRS Office. The incumbent in this position will provide pre-employment transition services (Pre-ETS) and vocational rehabilitation (VR) services that result in employment and enhanced independent living. Core services include Pre-ETS, guidance and counseling, employment training, education, physical/mental restoration, and job
placement services. Dual Caseloads consist of individuals (students and adults) with disabilities.
Considerable knowledge of the social, economic, medical, vocational, and emotional issues impacting students, youth, and adults with
disabilities; interviewing, evaluation, and counseling techniques; methods and tools for career counseling and exploration. Demonstrated skill in leading groups of students; providing training and technical assistance; facilitating meetings and team processes; team-building and collaborative problem-solving; negotiating diverse community organizations, agencies, and other resources; and client-focused advocacy. Knowledge of
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance requirements. Skilled in Windows-based computer usage and the ability to learn proprietary software for case management/case documentation purposes. Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers, and the professional community. Ability to
organize and manage multiple and sometimes unrelated responsibilities in a timely manner; to prioritize duties and exercise responsible judgment with minimal supervision. Knowledge of the principles and practices of vocational service delivery to persons with disabilities.
Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a closely related field is required for this role.
Current CRC credential or eligible to sit for the CRC.
This has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2-1201.1. A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the finalist candidate.
