Rate of Pay: $9.00/hour; 28 hrs./week
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This is a largely independent position responsible for visitor services and maintaining good public relations with all entering Dudley Farm Historic State Park. The candidate will be required to work independently with minimal supervision providing visitor services, resource management, administration, maintenance and protection of park facilities and guests. Must be able to use a chain saw, pole saw, trimmers, mowers, garden hand tools and assorted other hand tools and power tools needed to complete jobs. Strong maintenance skills and abilities are required.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
Knowledge of:
Skills in: Operating trucks, tractors, mowers; utilizing standard, gas and power tools; performing grounds and building maintenance which includes but is not limited to mowing, weed eating, pressure washing, and painting; basic plumbing, including but not limited to waterline repair; toilet and faucet repair; basic electrical work; basic carpentry, including but not limited to, historic building repairs; computer applications such as MS Office.
Ability to: work rotating days including holidays and weekends; lift up to 50 pounds without assistance; work with large and small farm animals including but not limited to chickens, turkeys, cows and horses; communicate verbally and in writing; perform physical labor and janitorial duties; use power/electrical/gas tools and equipment; perform routine inspections; investigate and identify problems; maintain facilities and equipment; deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner; wear period correct clothing; work outdoors in inclement weather and extreme temperatures; interpret facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meet visitors, answer questions, provide information and directions. Attempt to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations; notify the public of rules and regulations; prepare and keep accurate reports; maintain a valid Class E driver’s license; follow verbal and written instructions; performs exotic plant removal under the supervision of the park staff; understand and apply directives, policies, laws and regulations.
