Parent Support Counselor
Family House NOW is a long-term residential treatment facility for women experiencing mental illness and chemical dependence, and their children. Special components address drug/alcohol addiction, mental illness, life skills, and parenting skills, as well as prevention and intervention for the children. Family House NOW is one of only a few programs nationwide that works with mother and child in a residential treatment setting.
Job Responsibilities
I. Parent Support Responsibilities:
Observe and assist parent in child care responsibilities such as feeding, bathing and bed time.
Role model appropriate parent/child interactions
Supportively confront/correct inappropriate interactions
II. Child Care Responsibilities:
Assume child responsibilities in parent’s absence or when parent is unable to do so
Monitor children
III. Documentation Responsibilities:
Document any notable observations of parent- child interactions
Document any significant client interactions
IV. Other Responsibilities:
Provide crisis intervention
Stay on assigned floor as indicated until completion of shift
As assigned by the Director to ensure continuity of care and foster a supportive nurturing environment for growth
Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 1 years of relevant experience
- Valid Drivers License
