Position Summary : Coordinate media pitching efforts with Director of Marketing & Communications. Emphasis on raising awareness for the organization to drive donations and increase statewide awareness and support. The incumbent will also focus on writing and editing for all print and digital platforms, website updates, Good AdWords management and award submissions. Essential Functions: Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, pitch and secure media coverage to a variety of media sources, including those serving diverse communities. Track online content and media mentions. Manage Google AdWords account and explore other tactics to drive visitors to the Treehouse website. Create regional and national award submissions nominating organization and top executives. Engage in respectful, honest, hopeful communication with and about youth and their families. Values diversity and embraces opportunities to learn about people from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Work collaboratively with internal staff through oversight of email, social media and internet marketing functions in partnership with development and program departments. Draft blog posts, articles for digital and print newsletters, collateral and employee communications that reach and engage diverse audiences and communities. Update the Treehouse website, format new blog posts and photos, and ensure current site content. Coordinate with contributors and assist with distribution for variety of projects, publications and newsletters in print and digital formats. Identify compelling statistics for use in marketing campaigns, and recommend new tools and other opportunities on an ongoing basis that move the department forward. Assist with editing of internal and external written and visual content. Minor video editing and uploading to YouTube, Facebook and other platforms. Type recorded interviews for use in blog posts and Q&As. Provide administrative support and assist with maintaining department files. Secondary Functions: Attend all-staff and team meetings. Represent the agency at public events as needed. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, English, Communications or Journalism preferred OR equivalent work experience. 1 year experience drafting posts and maintaining a blog, managing social media accounts, updating websites, monitoring website traffic, and/or editing written and/or visual content Demonstrated ability to build positive and effective working relationships with individuals of various ages, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Adept at adjusting communication style and messaging for diverse audiences, effectively connecting existing and potential supporters and clients with the Treehouse mission and programs. Working knowledge of WordPress. Ability and aptitude with Microsoft Office Suite and other technology necessary for successful day-to-day functioning in business environment. Current driver’s license and minimum WA State driver insurance coverage required if driving on Treehouse business. Driving record must be approved by Treehouse insurance provider. Must satisfy Washington State criminal background requirements for working with youth and vulnerable adults. Preferred Knowledge of AP style. Knowledge of Adobe products, particularly Photoshop and Adobe Premiere. Experience with SEO, PPC and Google AdWords Experience identifying story opportunities and pitching media outlets. Experience as a news reporter Experience using CisionPoint or Cision Communications Cloud media database. Physical and Mental Requirements: 1. Physical Requirements – Long periods of sitting, working on a computer, using the phone, working with office equipment, traveling to other offices and venues. 4.
